BOARD CERTIFIED
Orthopaedic Surgery * Sports Medicine * Spinal Surgery * Hand & Microsurgery
Board Certification indicates that a surgeon has graduated from medical school, completed a five-year orthopaedic surgical residency, and passed the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery Examination. This Board evaluates the initial and continuing qualifications of orthopaedic surgeons, requiring that each surgeon be re certified every ten years.
FELLOWSHIP TRAINED
Every orthopaedic surgeon at P.O.A. has elected to do an additional one to two years of training in a sub-specialty of orthopaedics (hand, spine, shoulder, sports medicine, etc). It is a competitive position that is obtained only after completion of a five year certified orthopaedic residency. To be a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons means that the surgeon’s education and training, professional qualifications, surgical competence, and ethical conduct have passed a rigorous evaluation, and have been found to be consistent with the high standards established and demanded by the College.
