Biography
Dr. Gabisan was raised in Holmdel and graduated cum laude from Rutgers University in New Brunswick. Subsequently, he earned an M.D. from UMDNJ in Newark, New Jersey. He accomplished his orthopaedic training at Monmouth Medical Center with rotations at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for pediatric orthopaedics and NYU for musculoskeletal tumor surgery. He went onto complete a fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania where he participated in the care of Philadelphia athletes and the Pennsylvania Ballet. He specializes in arthroscopic and reconstructive procedures of the foot and ankle, sports medicine, ankle replacement and bunion correction.
Dr. Gabisan is an orthopaedic team physician for many area high schools and is a frequent orthopaedic consultant for Monmouth University and Georgian Court University. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society and American College of Surgeons. He is an Assistant Program Director for the Monmouth Medical Center Orthopaedic Surgical Residency Program.
Dr. Gabisan has received two honors from Monmouth Medical Center. In 2007 he received the Golden Hands award and in 2008 he earned the Apple award for teaching excellence. He was recently selected, as one of a few orthopaedic surgeons in the Northeast, to perform the Scandinavian Total Ankle Replacement for ankle arthritis. In addition, he has been recognized by the New Jersey Law Enforcement Journal for his excellence as an orthopaedic surgeon and received the Patient's Choice 2011 Most Compassionate Doctor award.
Outside of his career as an orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Gabisan makes time to run half marathons, snowboard, practice martial arts and travel to enjoy foreign food and culture.
Dr. Gabisan is available to see patients at the Tinton Falls, Toms River and Freehold Offices.
