Dr. Johnson is proud to be from the Jersey shore. He grew up in Avon, New Jersey and attended CBA in Lincroft. His undergraduate training was at Tulane University where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa with dual majors in Chemistry and Physics. He then began his medical training at the UMDNJ-Rutgers Medical School. His five-year residency in Orthopedics was performed at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. During his residency, he also worked at other facilities including Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He was also a team physician at Rutgers University, a Division One School. He subsequently completed a one-year fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at the Indiana Center for Surgery of the Hand.
In 1989 Dr. Johnson decided to enter private practice with Dr. Harry Bade. He is an upper extremity and sports medicine specialist. He is a team physician for many local high schools and performs arthroscopic surgery on a regular basis. Dr. Johnson treats tendon injuries, fractures, growths, and arthritis of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. He also frequently performs carpal tunnel surgery using the latest microsurgical techniques. He is a member of multiple societies including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He also is an Instructor in the Orthopaedic Residency Program at Monmouth Medical Center.
When not practicing medicine, Dr. Johnson enjoys outdoor recreational activities such as sailing, boating, and fishing. He is an active participant in his children’s athletic activities including coaching and serving as a team physician. He enjoys spending time with his wife, four children, and multiple family members that live in the Jersey Shore area.
Dr. Johnson is available to see patients at the Tinton Falls, Toms River and Freehold Offices.
