Physical & Occupational Therapy
POA offers physical and occupational therapy and rehabilitation services at the Tinton Falls location. The Board Certified Physical and Occupational Therapists work closely with the POA physicians to develop individualized rehabilitation protocols based on each patients specific needs.
Our Physical Therapy department is comprised of licensed professionals with extensive knowledge and training in anatomy, physiology, and the biomechanics of the body. They know how to help you get back in action. Our therapists use a hands-on approach in conjunction with specific modalities.
The most commonly used therapeutic procedures/modalities are:
- Manual (hands-on) Therapy: Consists of myofascial release techniques, stretching of restricted structures and specific strengthening of weak muscles, soft tissue and joint mobilization/ manipulation.
- Pain Management: Use of moist heat, cryotherapy, ultrasound, electrical stimulation and massage.
- Therapeutic Exercises: These exercises are customized for each condition and they include strengthening, stabilizing and stretching to restore pain-free range of motion. The exercises improve movement and proper muscle balance.
- Postural Corrections: This addresses behavior modification, postural exercise, and self-awareness.
- Home Management Program: A detailed home exercise program may be necessary to compliment the patients therapy program.
