“After three months of unrelenting pain and discomfort that was affecting the quality of my life and after unsuccessful attempts at relief with steroid injections, acupuncture and PT, surgery was recommended. I was referred by a dear friend and doctor to Dr. Jason Cohen. After reviewing my case and looking at my films, Dr. Cohen recommended anterior discectomy with fusion. This was necessary but obviously very scary. Going through this with Dr. Cohen and Professional Orthopaedic Associates gave me the best experience possible. At my first visit and every visit after that I was met by a professional, efficient, caring staff. Dr. Cohen's confident, informative, sympathetic approach helped me sort through the procedure and my options. A bonus for me was also meeting a nurse who had the same surgery as I did and being able to ask her every question I had from the actual procedure to how soon I would be able to wash my hair after surgery. I am so happy to say that my surgery was completely successful and was performed without any problems. My recovery was just as Dr. Cohen told me it would be.  I followed the instructions of Dr. Cohen and the staff throughout my recovery, and two months after my surgery I played 4 rounds of golf in 8 days! Thank you to Dr. Cohen and his wonderful staff for giving me my life back.”

“I was very nervous regarding the injury I had suffered after a car accident, being that I am a very active male who enjoys playing a lot of sports as well as dancing about twice a week, and when I go dancing I'm dancing to for anywhere from 4-8 hours or more, usually  with people usually much younger. So being that my injury meant that this was going to be perhaps the most serious surgery I had to go through in about 40 years I was very much concerned. Not only did Dr. G put at ease before, but immediately afterwards & during the 6 month recovery period. Also I like to add that I found the whole staff top notch & friendly, I have worked in Healthcare for over 30 years and have never encountered a staff as friendly & helpful as the staff here. I would recommend Professional to anyone needing their services, in fact I have to some minor foot surgery done, and the only ones I want to perform it is Professional Orthopaedics.”

I would feel remiss if I personally did not say "thank-you" for the two hip replacements that you performed on me over the past three years and most recently in Jan of this year. To say the least the success of these two total hip replacement operations has improved my quality of life. “Come February 2010 it will be three years since I was the recipient of bilateral knee replacements at Riverview Medical Center. you were the "handy man" who performed the surgery. Prior to my surgery you asked what I most wanted to do when I got my "new knees". Although I had been an avid marathon runner I responded that what I truly wanted to be able to do again was dance with my eight grandchildren. By July of 2007, only five months post op, I was cutting a rug. I was so pleased I kept thinking to myself that I must write down how I felt about my decision to have the surgery and your expertise in performing the surgery and send you off a thank you note. Often life gets in the way of the best of plans and thus it was with my note. Oh, I'd think about it again as I did my three to five mile walk every morning and every time I'd climb a ladder to clean a drain, change a light bulb or dart out of my seat to answer the door bell. Yet, i never wrote the note. Some part of me figured that you must get many notes from more than satisfied patients. I lived my life, a better live now, and the knees just became "my knees" - not the replacement knees - just "my knees". The other day I received the Meridian Healthviews (Riverview's magazine) in the mail. Thumbing through the magazine I came to an article about a guy who had had a bilateral knee replacement. Reading about this man I though, "Wow, a guy who had a bilateral knee replacement". In the instant that I had that thought I realized that I was thinking of myself as someone who had the original equipment and not anyone who had anything in common with the guy in the article. I guess that is the ultimate in defining all that a successful bilateral knee replacement surgery can be - my knees are now one with me.
