“Dr. Gesell replaced my right hip in August; surgery went as he described it, and I've had no complications thus far. I experienced minimal pain, it was more a feeling of discomfort as I learned how to move around during the first few days after the surgery. My mobility has improved significantly each day since surgery. I would recommend Dr Gesell to anyone who is considering joint replacement.”

Treating Doctor:“Come February 2010 it will be three years since I was the recipient of bilateral knee replacements at Riverview Medical Center. you were the "handy man" who performed the surgery. Prior to my surgery you asked what I most wanted to do when I got my "new knees". Although I had been an avid marathon runner I responded that what I truly wanted to be able to do again was dance with my eight grandchildren. By July of 2007, only five months post op, I was cutting a rug. I was so pleased I kept thinking to myself that I must write down how I felt about my decision to have the surgery and your expertise in performing the surgery and send you off a thank you note. Often life gets in the way of the best of plans and thus it was with my note. Oh, I'd think about it again as I did my three to five mile walk every morning and every time I'd climb a ladder to clean a drain, change a light bulb or dart out of my seat to answer the door bell. Yet, i never wrote the note. Some part of me figured that you must get many notes from more than satisfied patients. I lived my life, a better live now, and the knees just became "my knees" - not the replacement knees - just "my knees". The other day I received the Meridian Healthviews (Riverview's magazine) in the mail. Thumbing through the magazine I came to an article about a guy who had had a bilateral knee replacement. Reading about this man I though, "Wow, a guy who had a bilateral knee replacement". In the instant that I had that thought I realized that I was thinking of myself as someone who had the original equipment and not anyone who had anything in common with the guy in the article. I guess that is the ultimate in defining all that a successful bilateral knee replacement surgery can be - my knees are now one with me. Thank you, Dr. Harry Bade, it's been a long time coming but thank you very, very much.”

Treating Doctor:“I would like to thank you for your special expertise, great kindness and alacrity that you gave to my “two knees” and their replacements!! My entire experience with this seeming debacle was one of trust and appreciative understanding of your prowess and empathy to my situation and I am very grateful. Also, your entire staff, especially Amanda, who was so willing and thoughtful to help in any way, was wonderful.”

Treating Doctor:“I was nervous, and I was thankful that Dr. Parker recognized that. My wait was very short, which I was thankful for, too. He helped me understand what was going on with my knee. He wanted to recommend something after the MRI. It was a good appointment, and I’m happy to recommend him.”
– Anne J.
Treating Doctor:“Great bunch of guys. Motorcycle accident injury. They treated me and found no operation needed, just physical therapy. What a relief not to go under the knife. Thanks, guys!”

Treating Doctor:“Professional Orthopaedic Associates and Dr. Glenn Gabisan in particular, represent what an orthopaedic practice and physician should be. He diagnosed my knee problem after reviewing x-rays and a MRI that were conveniently performed in the same building at the Tinton Falls office. The practice's policy is to use surgery as a last resort, which I truly appreciate. They try to see each patient within a reasonable time frame of the appointment, and they do not seem to overbook. The office staff and the technicians are extremely competent as well. I have recommended several other patients, including my gymnast granddaughter to this practice, and they were treated by other physicians of the practice in the same professional manor. In the future, if I or any friend or relative need orthopaedic attention, this is the practice I will use and recommend.”

Treating Doctor:“Dr. Gesell, From the time I called and made an appointment up until the time of surgery, I had felt support from Dr. Gesell and his staff, i.e.; Amanda Aversa, Lisa Vito, and Colleen Rackett. No question was too silly and they always made time to answer my questions. Dr. Gesell put me at ease at the first visit and my MRI revealed that I had a torn rotator cuff (in my shoulder). Dr. Gesell had me go to physical therapy first, but, the pain never subsided. It was my choice to have the surgery when I did. The entire experience went much better than I expected and having the surgery at the Surgical Center proved to be an excellent choice. The nurses were gracious and the anesthesiologist was impeccable. The entire procedure went smoothly. I had a nerve block put in before the surgery, which helped me to cope for the three days following the surgery. Recovery is a long process. There are good and bad pain days. I am having passive physical therapy now and see Dr. Gesell this Friday. Dr Gesell always stressed that recovery will take time...and patience is key. I would gladly recommend Dr "G" as a surgeon. He has definitely won me over with his skill as a surgeon and his ability to communicate to his patient and their family.”
