  • “Dr. Gesell replaced my right hip in August; surgery went as he described it, and I've had no complications thus far. I experienced minimal pain, it was more a feeling of discomfort as I learned how to move around during the first few days after the surgery. My mobility has improved significantly each day since surgery. I would recommend Dr Gesell to anyone who is considering joint replacement.”

  • “Dr. Gesell, From the time I called and made an appointment up until the time of surgery, I had felt support from Dr. Gesell and his staff, i.e.; Amanda Aversa, Lisa Vito, and Colleen Rackett. No question was too silly and they always made time to answer my questions. Dr. Gesell put me at ease at the first visit and my MRI revealed that I had a torn rotator cuff (in my shoulder). Dr. Gesell had me go to physical therapy first, but, the pain never subsided. It was my choice to have the surgery when I did. The entire experience went much better than I expected and having the surgery at the Surgical Center proved to be an excellent choice. The nurses were gracious and the anesthesiologist was impeccable. The entire procedure went smoothly. I had a nerve block put in before the surgery, which helped me to cope for the three days following the surgery. Recovery is a long process. There are good and bad pain days. I am having passive physical therapy now and see Dr. Gesell this Friday. Dr Gesell always stressed that recovery will take time...and patience is key. I would gladly recommend Dr "G" as a surgeon. He has definitely won me over with his skill as a surgeon and his ability to communicate to his patient and their family.”

  • “I had been having problems with my knees, which in turn held me back from enjoying the retirement years that I was so much looking forward to. I decided to see Dr. Torpey at Professional Orthopaedic Associates to find out if there was anything that he could do to reverse the condition and associated pain. The examination was done along with x-rays and the results were that my knees were in bad condition, my right knee worse than the left. After exploring the options to remedy the situation, I choose to have my right knee treated with the Synvisc treatment. Before I had even completed the three-week treatment period, my knee felt great with no more pain and excellent mobility. To my benefit, the treatment lasted longer than projected, but then my knee started to fail again. I went back to Dr. Torpey, an examination was done again, and the result was that the only option was a knee replacement. I agreed and the wheels were set in motion for the operation. Dr. Torpey performed the successful operation in 2009. After a period of physical therapy, I have been pain free and active ever since. If ever I have to have my left knee operated on, you can be sure that Professional Orthopaedic Associates and Dr. Torpey will be involved. Thank you Dr. Torpey.”

  • “My story started May 2012, when my muscle on my left knee detached from my bone. I went to the ER first, then to Professional Orthopaedic Associates. I saw Dr. Gentile, who took a MRI. After seeing the results, he set a date to operate. All that I told him was that I did not want to know anything at the time of the operation. True to his word, I did not feel anything. I came out of the operation feeling good. His professionalism, knowledge, and compassion, made me feel safe and confidant at the follow-ups. He gave me confidence to dance and to walk on my leg again I would highly recommend Dr. Gentile and his staff for any orthopaedic needs. Thank you.”

  • “I am so very grateful for my two new knees!! Dr. Foos has given me back my life! It had been years since I was able to exercise the way I wanted to. Now I can walk, bike, do Zumba, and enjoy moving to the music the way I used to. Swimming is still great, but I no longer have to rely on the pool for my only form of exercise. My volunteer work at the Bronx Zoo is no longer painful. There's such a lot of ground to cover, but now I'm happy to be there. This doesn't even cover playing with my grandchildren! It's amazing how much we take for granted, and how we can get used to losing it. It's easy to forget what you loved to do, but it's wonderful to rediscover them again. The care I received was wonderful. Physical therapy took several months, but following "orders" and hard work were definitely worth it. I am thankful every day.”

  • “We are finding out that our son had a torn ACL and a fully torn meniscus due to a football injury was quite difficult to hear. We had many questions. Dr. Bade amazing and spent quality time with us at each visit, especially after his first surgery. Dr. Bade is such a perfectionist, and the first surgery took a long time due to the meniscus continually tearing upon repair. We were tense/nervous/exhausted and he sat with us at 9:30 at night to meticulously detail the entire surgery. Post op appointment Dr. Bade showed us all the photos and again explained the whole procedure. The staff was accommodating. Fast forward to the next year - Senior year football captain - and tragedy still — the second injury just like the first. We had the same nurturing and caring experience the first go round. We are thankful that Dr. Bade was our son's surgeon.”
