“After several months of living with pain. After seeing a chiropractor, having physical therapy, and trying acupuncture, nothing was helping. I sought care from Dr. Cohen. I couldn't look up, down, or to the side. After MRI, Dr. Cohen determined I had three herniated discs, and I could try epidural shots, but that would only be a temporary band-aid. He recommended that I needed surgery to repair three discs in my neck. He would insert a plate and screws. It had been nearly 20 years since my last surgery, which took place during my 4 years as a D1, basketball player. The results were so good that I was able to go back, against Dr. Bade's recommendation mind you, to playing basketball weekly, running long distances and hiking. There is never a good time for surgery, but as a parent, knowing her medical insurance expired the end of August made things a little uneasy. (After her first surgery, and before knowing you were able to move up her second procedure, I extended her insurance until the end of October). In addition, I knew her time in New Jersey was probably limited. As you have seen, she is doing fantastic during her recovery and rehab is going absolutely great!
