The following are reviews from patients of Dr. Johnson.
  • “Dr. Chris Johnson is a wonderful doctor and person. When I had my bi-lateral carpal tunnel surgery and trigger finger surgery he called me himself to see how I was doing. He is a very caring, compassionate, individual. Also, when I had problems with my shoulder he gave me a steroid injection he was very honest with me before administering the injection and very caring as well. I will always see Dr. Johnson if I have further needs with my hands, fingers or shoulders. Thank you.”

  • “I fell on my left arm and went to the ER with a follow up three days later with Dr. Johnson. Since my arm was still swollen, he was extremely patient and put a splint on my arm followed by a cast the following week. Dr. Johnson then put a removable splint on a few weeks later and recommended I go for physical therapy. I found Dr. Johnson very competent and knew exactly the proper course of action.”

  • “He was right on target with his diagnosis He recommend PT unlike the other doctor wanted to operate just by reading an MRI, No examination. I've had PT for 2x's a week for 5 wks. My pain from my neck down to my numb fingers is gone. PT ended over a month ago, pain has not returned. Great experience highly recommend Dr. Johnson to anyone. Thank you for giving back my life.”

  • “Dr. Johnson actually listens to his patients which is rare today. I have a history of not fracturing a bone but rather tearing ligaments and tendons. I guess that is good. After having a negative X-Ray he ordered a MRI right away without making me wait a few weeks and lo and behold I had some ligament tears. Unfortunately, these were old tears that I did not even know that I had. I had just reinjured the old ones. After a few weeks of therapy I was as good as new. This became a very quick process without a lot of waiting around.”

  • “I fell and broke my wrist. Scheduled surgery with Dr. Johnson at the Surgery Center and was well take care of before Dr. Johnson performed surgery. Afterwards, I was in a lot of pain and was well taken care of again at the Surgery Center. He put in a plate and 8 pins. It amazing my wrist is fine. I recommend Dr. Johnson, besides being a great surgeon he is a sweet person. Sounds silly, but that is how I think of Dr. Johnson—he's such a sweet person.”

  • “I had a shoulder surgery in February of 2014 by one doctor. Won't mention his name. And it didn't go well. After 9 months of physical therapy things weren't go right. I was referred to Dr Johnson and got a second opinion from him, turns out I needed another surgery. Dr. Johnson did the surgery in January of 2015. I went for physical therapy again until May and went back to work June 1st. I wish I had Dr. Johnson the first time. What a pleasure it was to have been associated with Professional Orthopaedic, I think the whole staff is AAA. I love those guys. Would highly recommend, very friendly and professional. They make you feel like one of the family.”

  • “Although it has been a long road to recovery, I couldn't be more pleased with Dr. Johnson and the entire office staff. Everything you need is right at your finger tips. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone working there to do for you. From refilling a prescription to figuring out an insurance question, the staff make it known that they are at your disposal. One thing that I really appreciated very much is the no wait time for an appointment. It seems you just sign in and you are being seen by Dr. Johnson. Dr. Johnson is extremely caring and reassuring in his assessment of your specific problem. Kudos to an extremely well run and organized office.”

  • “Have had rheumatoid arthritis for years, I am 73, and no one has identified it before this.  Dr. Johnson identified it and treated the present problem within two visits...My wrists were swollen so bad and so painful, that they resembled a couple of old catchers mitts.....After  taking care of the swelling and pain, I was referred to a Rheumatologist, whom I am seeing now------time will tell--- my wife is under the care of another Orthopedic  surgeon in this group----and she has nothing but praise for him also.....The entire staff or that part that we have dealt with, have all been excellent----Thank You, Thank You, and Thank You.”

  • “Dr. Johnson was extremely professional and kind. I was in pain from arthritis and the tingling and numbness in my right arm and hand was particularly disturbing. He had sent me for a nerve test which established problems of carpal tunnel in both hands, but more of a problem in my right.  Dr. Johnson operated on my right hand and I was given an injection in my left hand. My recovery is excellent and I am now able to do tasks which I had previously been unable to perform. Karen, my physical therapist is outstanding, caring, and very professional. I sincerely appreciate all the professionals who addressed my pain and arthritis. I was becoming depressed with the pain and inability to do the simplest tasks, but now the opposite is true. Thank you.”

  • “Dr. Johnson is always attentive and thorough. I like that he seeks alternatives to surgery first and if none are available he performs the most basic operations to solve the problems. The associated physical therapy office is professional and caring. This office makes you want to come back!”

  • “Dear Dr. Johnson, Clorinda, & All the Office Staff at Professional Orthopaedic Associates, I just want to say again thank you for your incredible kindness and generosity towards me and my family. You are truly the most sincere, caring, and unselfish human beings that I have ever had the pleasure to meet. I have been a patient of Professional Orthopaedic Associates for many years. Dr. Johnson, you have treated our family for at least 30 years now. From my in-laws to my children and now to me. From the moment we met, you always made me feel at peace. I will admit, I have been thrown a couple of curve balls in my time and am very fearful when it comes to doctors, but knowing that I am in your hands, has always left me so comforted. Clorinda, where do I begin. You are the best for always fitting us in for immediate appointments and helping us with paper work and insurance. Your calming presence and efficient organization has pulled this family through many procedures, from fractured bones in my son’s ankle’s, knees, and hand, to my irregular EKGs and then being sent instantly to your own cardiologist. Thank you. Having this tremendous disc pain has been torture. I had been in severe pain for approx. 7 months. My neck, back, and left arm all hurt. My pain got to the point that I could only stand. Sitting was unbearable. Dr. Johnson, you examined me and knew right away that something funny was going on. That same day, I was introduced to your associate Dr. Cohen, who confirmed I needed an anterior cervical discectomy and fusion. Surgery was scheduled two weeks later after all pre-testing was approved. You have gone above and beyond to help me get to where I am today. Checking on me weekly to make sure all pre-testing was on scheduled and that I was not in pain. I was very afraid as my insurance was not taken at the office and I received a call that night to say not to worry. I am a widow with three children and one still in college, so I was very scared of the finances. Insurance companies denying most everything as they do. And also worrying that the worst would happen in surgery. It is such a foreign concept to be told by your office that  “Professional Orthopedic puts their patients 1st  and not the finances." They explained they would work with my insurance company and they stood by what they said! I am so happy to say that surgery took place April 24th - one week ago. I was home the next day 100% pain free and feeling better that I have in years. I had my follow up visit with Dr. Cohen six days later and was so excited to be told all was successful. Even your front desk staff hugged and welcomed me back. YOUR KINDNESS WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTON!!!! You are truly an angel. God bless you for your talent, kindness, and compassion.”

  • “When your child breaks a bone, it is a terrifying experience. Unfortunately, my son, Matthew, age 12, broke both bones in his right forearm and experienced a great deal of pain. After being treated at the hospital emergency room, Matthew needed follow-up care from a caring and experienced orthopedist. I asked many friends and family members and they recommended Professional Orthopedists and gave them great reviews. My son and I met with Dr. Johnson and his staff and he was treated with such care, it immediately put us at ease. The technician and nurse who x-rayed Matthew were knowledgeable and gentle, and helped him deal with the pain that he was in. Dr. Johnson then met with us and reassured us that Matthew would have a full recovery. He explained the x-rays in terms that we could understand and showed us how the bones could heal without having to go through surgery. Dr. Johnson used a hard cast to ensure that the bones were set in a corrective position- something that we couldn't imagine when we first saw the x-rays. His sense of humor and great bedside manner kept my 12-year-old son in good spirits, while he kept a nervous mom informed and at ease. At the one week follow-up visit, we met with Dr. Gesell, Dr Johnson's partner. He was also equally caring and professional. Dr. Gesell showed us the follow-up x-rays and showed us how the bones were repairing themselves and were back in a healthy and stable position to fuse back together. Words cannot describe how grateful we are to be in the care of such skilled and professional doctors. Matthew is expected to have a full recovery, which is just amazing after all that he went through. To see him smile and laugh means the world to us. We know that the care he received at Professional Orthopedists made all the difference to him and our family.”

  • “I had a cyst in the joint of my thumb that interfered with my clinical classes that I needed to take for nursing school. My podiatrist recommended I go to Professional Orthopaedic Associates, specifically the Tinton Falls office to see Dr. Johnson. After consultations with him, we decided a surgical approach would be the best for me based upon the cysts position in between nerves. Shortly after the surgery, I went to occupational therapy, and was quickly able to return to school. Thanks to Dr. Johnson, I didn't have to give up my dream of an education in the medical field.”

  • “On October 2, 2013, I was playing soccer at Rowan University, when I twisted my knee in an awkward manner. My mother was able to call Professional Orthopaedic Associates and schedule a MRI, since I was previously a patient there already. I was able to have my MRI read the same day by Dr. Johnson, only to find out that I had torn my ACL. Since I was in college, we decided to put the surgery off until after Christmas. I went to physical therapy until the day of my surgery, December 27. After receiving ACL surgery early in the morning, I went back home where multiple people called to check in on me and see how I was doing. The first few weeks were tough, but with the help of Dr. Johnson and going to physical therapy, I was able to manage it and get back to walking normal in about a month. Soon after, I was able to get rid of my knee brace altogether and feel normal again. I did hit a few rough patches when something did not feel right in my knee. But thanks to Dr. Johnson, I was able to get an appointment very quickly. He had helped me figure out what was wrong and the problem was gone within a few weeks. On October 21, 2014, I was officially cleared to return to soccer and sports. I am now currently playing soccer again, and my knee is stronger then ever! I could not have done this process without the help of Dr. Johnson or the staff of Professional Orthopaedic Associates. I am very thankful for everything they have done over the past year!”
