Christopher D. Johnson, MD, FACS, a board-certified, fellowship-trained hand and reconstructive surgeon at Professional Orthopaedic Associates, recently returned from his 18th medical mission trip to Honduras.
Dr. Johnson was volunteering with Health Volunteers Overseas (HVO) to provide medical care and education in Honduras. During the trip, he treated Hondurans with birth-related conditions as well as tendon, nerve, and burn injuries. He also taught surgeons and medical providers about orthopaedic, hand, and plastic surgery.
In addition to being a long-time volunteer for HVO, Dr. Johnson is also their local program director. He helps with coordinating volunteer care for the mission program and has spearheaded additional projects, such as opening an adult burn center.
