  • “Dear Dr. Gentile and Staff, About ten days ago our 13 year-old son, Joey, collided with a base runner during a baseball game. He broke his front tooth and his left thumb. With the remainder of his soccer and baseball seasons hanging in the balance, he was extremely anxious to see a doctor for a prognosis. Most offices wanted to put us off for a couple of days, but the uncertainty was driving him crazy! Dr. Gentile agreed to see him on a Tuesday in the Toms River office even though he was not seeing patients that day. For our stressed familys first experience with anything like this, your office has been amazing to us! From Tina, who got us the appointment immediately to caring Verna at the office to Sherry who has gone above and beyond producing notes that my son 'forgot' to Dr. Gentile, who took the time out of what, I am sure, is an already packed schedule, to see a frightened, anxious 13 year-old boy. Absolutely everyone has been such a pleasure, every step of the way! Then two weeks later, our other son also broke his thumb. Someone suggested that I should see a doctor in my plan. I said without hesitation, 'No, that other office was not understanding or accommodating. I have had such a great experience with Dr. Gentiles office that I dont want to go anywhere else. We will make it work to stay with them.' I just really wanted to pass along how much your kindness has meant to my family. Your office came through when not many would, but you did so with smiling faces and compassionate hearts. I cant thank you enough and, if our luck should turn again, there is no other place I would trust with my familys health!!!”

  • “Dr. Johnson, I have to express my thanks for your work on my surgically repaired ankle. I have just returned from a two week trip to Japan (8 months after surgery for my broken leg) where I was able to keep up with people ten years younger than myself, walking all day, running for trains, over all terrain, huge flights of stairs, etc. You did a wonderful job and I certainly appreciate it.”

    – Doris S.

  • “Dr. Bade, ... you did an ACL reconstruction with autograph on my left knee on the 21st of May 2009 and here it is only a few weeks later and I can already tell what a magnificent job you did. You surgically repaired my right knee 18 years ago with the same procedure and it is just as solid today as it was back then. I truly appreciate your hard work and due diligence. You are a master of your craft. I will say that thank God your surgical technique is better than your artwork or I would be in a world of trouble! LOL. Thank you so much!!”

    – Damian A.

  • “I used to be active athlete who enjoyed all sports! Basketball, tennis, skiing, snow boarding, & martial arts. I had a full torn acl injury ten years ago and had seen quite few doctors over the years in New York and New Jersey. I never felt comfortable so never committed to the surgery. Most practices felt cold and uncaring (akin to a production line). At the recommendation of a friend I went to see Dr. Foos and from the minute I entered the office my experience was second to none. Dr. Foos provided unrushed quality time educating me on my injury and objective choice of options (the previous surgeons didn't really give any). As I expected the surgery went off without a hitch and his follow up was just as good as the first visit. The same quality time was made post-op which was instrumental in my full recovery. Just want to say thanks to Dr. Foos and the Professional Ortho staff for their commitment to quality care and personal service!!”

  • “... thank you for having such a "good bedside manner" with Christine today. She really likes you. I know she has been playing through a lot of pain since she returned to field hockey. She felt her knee injury wasn't significant enough to complain about or disappoint her coach and teammates. She felt relieved today when she left the office knowing it was the right thing to do to stop and allow her injury to heal. Thank you.”

  • “Come February 2010 it will be three years since I was the recipient of bilateral knee replacements at Riverview Medical Center. you were the "handy man" who performed the surgery. Prior to my surgery you asked what I most wanted to do when I got my "new knees". Although I had been an avid marathon runner I responded that what I truly wanted to be able to do again was dance with my eight grandchildren. By July of 2007, only five months post op, I was cutting a rug. I was so pleased I kept thinking to myself that I must write down how I felt about my decision to have the surgery and your expertise in performing the surgery and send you off a thank you note. Often life gets in the way of the best of plans and thus it was with my note. Oh, I'd think about it again as I did my three to five mile walk every morning and every time I'd climb a ladder to clean a drain, change a light bulb or dart out of my seat to answer the door bell. Yet, i never wrote the note. Some part of me figured that you must get many notes from more than satisfied patients. I lived my life, a better live now, and the knees just became "my knees" - not the replacement knees - just "my knees". The other day I received the Meridian Healthviews (Riverview's magazine) in the mail. Thumbing through the magazine I came to an article about a guy who had had a bilateral knee replacement. Reading about this man I though, "Wow, a guy who had a bilateral knee replacement". In the instant that I had that thought I realized that I was thinking of myself as someone who had the original equipment and not anyone who had anything in common with the guy in the article. I guess that is the ultimate in defining all that a successful bilateral knee replacement surgery can be - my knees are now one with me. Thank you, Dr. Harry Bade, it's been a long time coming but thank you very, very much.”

  • “My daughter Angela is a high school soccer player. She injured both ACLs (plus her meniscus and MCL) in a nine-month span. We, as a family, were so distraught after her first injury. Angela was assured by Dr. Torpey that she would be back on the playing field, but I don't think she really believed it would happen. Sure enough she had a remarkable recovery and was back practicing within five months! But after her second injury, she didn't even want to think about playing soccer again. Dr. Torpey made her feel confident from her visit with him that everything would be okay. He just has a calming, yet "upbeat" way about him. As parents we were so scared at the thought of Angela needing surgery and complications that could accompany it. Dr. Torpey gained our trust and confidence in no time. We were not intimidated discussing our smallest concerns. We never at any moment felt like we were being rushed out of the office because he had other patients to attend to. We often feel like that with other practices. The few times we had to call during off hours, we immediately received a return phone call. We also received phone calls from Dr. Torpey himself just to see how she was doing. We felt like we knew him for a very long time. Anytime someone gets hurt, "Go see Dr. Torpey" are the first words out of Angelas mouth, followed by "He is amazing."”

  • “... thank you again for the excellent treatment you gave me yesterday. I wanted you to know that you are true to your reputation as the best orthopaedic surgeon in the area. I am very happy that I wont be spending the holiday season in a cast. Again, thank you so much and my wife and daughter thank you too.”

    – R. Newland

  • “Life sometimes has a funny way of teaching us or showing us things. In my case, an injury such as mine certainly made me realize how important and how blessed we are to have our health and the ability to get around. It also brought me into contact with you! While Im sure there are other doctors out there who could do the job, I have no doubt that there is only one of you- only one who not only possesses the skill and knowledge but also has the compassion and understanding to see his patients for who they are, each one unique in person as well as circumstances! Youre a great doctor and a great man! Thank you truly from the bottom of my heart for all you have done for me! Like the song says you're simply the best, better than all the rest.”

    – C. Fitzpatrick

  • “Dear Dr. Johnson, At this splendid time of year, it is our joy to express gratitude and respect for your medical practice. Gentle, comprehensive care is so characteristic of the healing arts. Thank you.”

    – Katherine & John

  • “Dr. Bade and Staff, I just wanted to express my thanks for extending such a generous courtesy. Your staff has been extremely helpful, polite, and very efficient. My daughter Alex is very fortunate and is very appreciative of your care for her ankle injury.”

    – M. Alfano

  • “Dr. Gentile, Thank you for putting my wrist back together. I know it was done with careful attention to optimal healing. I get better everyday, thanks to your expertise. Thank you.”

    – John K.

  • “Dear Dr. Bade, Too often in today's world all of us are quick to complain. I would feel remiss if I personally did not say "thank-you" for the two hip replacements that you performed on me over the past three years and most recently in January of this year. To say the least the success of these two total hip replacement operations has improved my quality of life. In addition, I would like to say "thank you" to the entire staff at Professional Orthopaedic Associates for the way they treated me. This includes the front office staff, the X-ray technicians, the business personnel ,and a special "thank-you" to Patty Orlando. All personnel have treated me in the most professional standards and I as one have always appreciated this. Have a good day, keep the faith, and keep smiling.”

    – Tom M.

  • “Dear Dr. Cohen and Staff, I had to write and thank you for giving me back my LIFE! I feel excellent and I am doing some of the things I love to do. When I came to you I was quite desperate and worried about my future. It's not just my job (teaching 2nd grade) that was in jeopardy, it was my livelihood. I have a teenager and two young children to care for, as well as an active sporting life that I was not ready to give up. From my first visit, you and everyone there (Marilyn and Adrienne especially) were so kind and understanding. Out you were always available to answer my questions and ease my concerns. Thank you again!  ”

    – Toni F.

  • “Dr. Johnson, I just wanted to take a minute to praise your staff! From making my 1st appointment, requesting medical records and asking for billing help, I received top notch customer / patient service. I got what I needed and I got extra help with my billing issue. Not only a call back from Carol, but followup from others on staff on my behalf. Your staff goes above and beyond what you need. They are pleasant, helpful and they deliver on their promises. I just thought you should know, because these days this is EXTREMELY RARE Thanks for a great experience. You guys are top notch!!”

    – A. Jones

  • “Dear Dr. Gabison, I would be re-mill if I didnt express my deepest appreciation for all youve done and the very patient and professional way you dealt with me and my frustrations with the healing process. It was far longer than I expected but I am back to tennis 3x/week - no swelling! Yeah! I am also walking with no pain and no swelling. Im back and very grateful. Thank you so much!”

    – J. Kulat

  • “Dr. Gentile, Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to experience what the field of orthopaedics is really like. I am very grateful that you allowed me to work with you for the past eight weeks. You explained so much and really included me during the appointments. I was able to absorb information and have experiences that I could never get from a classroom. You were truly a great mentor! Thank you of accommodating my schedule. I appreciate the efforts you made to allow me to accompany you into surgery. It was something I really wanted to see! I'm glad my memories of my first surgeries will have been with you. I had a lot of fun, and I will take this experience with me into my future. I believe that there will be a day in my career that I'll be working with a patient and remember something that I learned from you. Thank you again! This really meant so much to me.”

  • “I am an Equine Dentist and am 59 years old. In 2007, I fractured my collarbone in a horse related accident. Because of the nature of my occupation, it’s imperative that I have full range of motion of all my extremities. The recovery required a surgery performed by Dr. Johnson. He inserted a plate and 5 screws to repair my collarbone. In about 7 months, he removed the plate. Thanks to Dr. Johnson and therapist Shelia, I made a full recovery. Then about a year ago, I developed a problem in my knee. The pain was excruciating and I could barely walk, let alone work. Again, my job is extremely physical and requires the use of your entire body, from fingers to toes. Again, I visited Dr. Johnson and he repaired my knee surgically. I was back doing moderate work on horses in 10 days. Shelia was supervising my rehab and helping me get back my range of motion. Of course, it took time to recover. My knee got stronger and my range of motion came back as the weeks went by. Now, a year later, my knee is perfect. I have no pain and have complete range of motion. I am on my feet all day long, doing strenuous work, working most days, and my knee never bothers me at all. As a matter of fact, I would say it’s the best part of me. As far as I am concerned, these people are the best in the business. I recommend them all the time to people with orthopaedic issues and would call on them again if I ever have another problem. They are truly healers and take a genuine concern about their patients well being. If it was not for them, I would not have been able to continue my career as an Equine Dentist. Thank you again, Dr. Johnson and Shelia.”

  • “Dr. Bade performed an arthroscopic surgery on my knee after I suffered cartilage damage. It had been nearly 20 years since my last surgery, which took place during my 4 years as a D1, basketball player. The results were so good that I was able to go back, against Dr. Bade's recommendation mind you, to playing basketball weekly, running long distances and hiking. I have recommended Dr. Bade many times for his excellent work and results, professionalism, and great candor.”

    – Melanie C.

  • “Very pleased with the help I received from Dr. Johnson. I came to him in 2000, with a knee problem that had me at times on crutches. Dr. Johnson diagnosed my knee problem as osteoarthritis. The first medical group I saw diagnosed a different condition and wanted to do surgery. That is when I went to Dr. Johnson. He treated my knee with an injection and physical therapy. I have lived with my knee condition and am able to do almost most anything. I would highly recommend Dr. Johnson to anyone that asked me for a doctor.”

    – John B.

  • “I had a fusion of my left ankle on Oct. 21, 2013. I was in a non-weight bearing cast for 6 weeks, then a weight bearing cast for 6 weeks. After that, I was able to walk with the aid of a walker, a cane, and now I do not have to use anything. I have been in physical therapy for 8 weeks. I am doing well and very happy to be without that terrible pain. I am just amazed I can peddle a bike, walk down a hill without pain, and am getting ready to dance again. I am very thankful to Dr. Gabisan and all the office people, especially Nicole and Rose Ann.”

    – Barbara F.

  • “I have been a patient of Professional Orthopaedic Associates for many years. Dr. Johnson has cared for every member of my family at some point, and I would never consider another practice for orthopaedic needs. The staff is friendly and helpful. The Tinton Falls office has an imaging center and physical therapy services on site, making it a very convenient, full-service location.”

    – John G.

  • “I want to thank Dr. Jason Cohen and the staff at Professional Orthopaedic Associates for the care and support that I received throughout my procedure. From the time of my first phone call for my initial visit, to the most recent post-surgery check-up, I never felt as a “number,” but as someone as important as a family member. Dr. Cohen was very compassionate to the pain I was feeling as well as making me feel more at ease with the surgical procedure that was inevitable. The pain from the collapsed disc was so unbearable, that whenever I would cough or laugh, the pain would bring me to tears. As instructed by Dr. Cohen, the physical therapy made the recovery from the removing of the disc and the fusion of the two vertebrae very fast. It has now been over 2 years after the surgery, and I’ve never felt better. My husband reminds me that the scar from the incision is virtually invisible. Once again, thank you to a wonderful doctor and staff!!”

  • “The care and compassion I received from all of those I dealt with at Professional Orthopaedic Associates was a treat. Dr. Gesell replaced a knee for me and relieved the carpal tunnel pain I dealt with after the knee replacement, double whammy. Shortly after those issues, I was in an auto accident and shattered my arm. Thanks to Dr. Johnson, that injury was fixed. These people are sincere, good at what they do, and a pleasure to be around. I have regained an active lifestyle and look forward to having the other knee replaced. (Not really.) The best care by local professionals. Why go anywhere else? Thank you to Drs. Gesell and Johnson, and all of the women that took care of me.”

    – Gene B.

  • “Dr. Johnson operated on both of my elbows in January and February of this year for cubital tunnel syndrome. It is truly amazing how well I have recovered. I missed almost no work, and have returned to full sports and recreational activities, including baseball and guitar.”
