Professional Orthopaedic Associates Welcomes Dr. William Gallagher
Professional Orthopaedic Associates is excited to announce that William Gallagher, MD, CAQSM, a fellowship-trained and board-certified sports medicine physician specializing in nonsurgical orthopaedic care, has joined the practice. Dr. Gallagher is available to see patients at the practice’s Toms River office, located at 1430 Hooper Ave., Suite 101, and the Freehold office, located at 303 W. Dr. Gallagher brings extensive training in sports medicine and a patient-centered approach to care. He is dedicated to helping athletes and active individuals prevent, manage, and recover from injuries without the need for surgery whenever possible. His medical interests span a broad range of orthopaedic and sports medicine conditions, including:
- Clinical orthopaedics
- Athletic injury
- Non-operative fracture management
- Non-operative management of sports injuries
- Gait evaluation
- Sports concussion management
- Ultrasound-guided musculoskeletal injections (steroids, hyaluronic acid, orthobiologics)
- Ultrasound-guided percutaneous tenotomy
- Ultrasound-guided nerve hydrodissection

Dr. Gallagher earned his master’s degree in biomedical sciences from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark. He went on to complete his medical degree at the University of Medicine and Health Sciences in Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis before completing his family medicine residency at Hoboken University Medical Center in New Jersey. He then pursued a fellowship in primary care sports medicine at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania, where he provided care for Pennsylvania State University athletic teams and the State College Spikes, a St. Louis Cardinals minor league baseball team.
