Our very own Dr. Christopher D. Johnson served on Dr. Angelo Chinnicis’ medical staff for the Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Race Track on Sunday, August 2nd.  Dr. Johnson was there to provide emergent orthopaedic medical care, as necessary, for the jockey’s and staff.  Professional Orthopaedics salutes Monmouth Park Raceway for providing a great race for New Jersey’s native horse, American Pharoah.  Monmouth Park Raceway continues to provide a unique experience for families and friends in the jersey shore and tri-state areas.

Christopher Johnson, MD, FACS, knee, upper extremity and sports medicine specialist at Professional Orthopaedic Associates, spearheaded the establishment of the Adult Burn Center in the Escuela Hospital of Honduras after his 2013 medical mission trip made him aware of the dire need for a dedicated burn facility.

Professional Orthopaedic Associates, with locations in Tinton Falls, Toms River and Freehold, has been providing specialized orthopaedic care to area residents for 30 years.

Bade, III, Sports Medicine Surgeon, contributed to an article by NJ.com about the rise of the Tommy John surgical procedure.  Dr. Bade explains the increased number of cases of this elbow surgery, named after the former L.A. Dodger's pitcher, Tommy John, is due to the increasing number of youth athletes.  Dr.

The recovery time from a knee replacement procedure varies for each patient based on the patient’s overall health, type of procedure, and activity level prior to surgery.

When the procedure is complete and patients have returned home, they must commit to an extensive rehabilitation regimen. Over the course of six to eight weeks, joint replacement patients progress from small movements, such as stiff leg lifts, to walking greater distances.

Allowing a patient’s healthy bone, cartilage and ligaments to remain intact, a customized partial knee replacement provides patients with a more natural-feeling knee than a total knee replacement.
